Housing For All

Excerpts from a letter on file, written by Housing For All Corporation's President, Paul Hebert:

"Massachusetts currently houses homeless families waiting for available housing in motels and hotels at much higher rates than if we provided them with real homes.  The emotional trauma of young children going to school from motels is unacceptable.  I believe we can reverse this system for the better with your help.

I'm not asking for much.  Just a few dollars that could help our work - your work for a better future of housing for all.  For the same amount you could spend to buy a few lottery tickets, (Odds are that you won't win.), you can be a real Winner.  By sharing in our joint efforts, you Win by caring about others and the future of those you care about, so that good decisions are made concerning safe, affordable and efficient homes for the future.  You would be a Winner by being part of the solution and participating in the process of responsible citizenship.

You need to know that you are not only a consumer of housing, but also a provider of housing to others in need by your tax dollars.  Protect your tax investment by helping us seek new ways of providing housing and services for the least cost to government, (YOU).  When we mandate government to solve problems, they always send the bill to you and me in the form of taxes and fees.  The alternative is to assist people to help themselves.

The Board of Directors has agreed that it's time to open the CENTER FOR HOUSING STUDIES.  It is time for full efforts in research, education and development.

WE MUST SPEND WHATEVER IT TAKES TO CARE FOR OUR PEOPLE, BUT WE NEED NOT SPEND MORE."

Some questions to consider...

~Are your living arrangements appropriate for your stage of life or are you strapped by maintaining a house that is much larger than you need?

~When is it appropriate to live with relatives and share living expenses or are you ready to live your golden years with friends?

~Will rental units ever provide some type of equity toward retirement years for families in rental housing situations?

~How can we achieve financing so that we can live within our means and find some security?

~Would you like to get involved with the Center for Housing Studies?

The Center for Housing Studies (CHS) acts as the Research and Policy Reform branch of the Housing For All Corporation (HFAC). We at CHS are dedicated to investigating and analyzing the problems which are inherent within the current affordable housing paradigm, and postulating intelligent reform of the present policy to better serve those in need of safe, sustainable, affordable housing options.

Data is assembled from various sources such as interviews and surveys; current policies of local, state and federal governments worldwide; policy recommendations from think tanks and institutions; and from studies conducted by other groups and individuals. Relevant information is compiled for study leading to sensible policy proposals which are in the best interests of both government and citizen alike.
